St. John the Baptist Parish in San Fernando will once again be a witness to the conferring of the sacred orders this July 2024. The parish saw its last ordination in 2007. After 17 years of prolonged waiting, 2 of its sons are set to receive the sacred orders: one to the priesthood in Dcn. Neil John Bolocon (see separate story), and the other, Sem. Rexwilson Alto who is scheduled to get ordained deacon on the Feast of Our Lady of Carmel, on July 16, 2024. Sem. Rexwilson comes from Pamukid, San Fernando, borne though of parents coming from elsewhere in Camarines Sur but who settled in this part of San Fernando in later years: his mother, Vilma, comes from Caramoan, while his father, Exequiel, comes from Calabanga. Sem. Rexwilson comes from a batch of 13 pre-college seminarians who entered the seminary in 2015 – he is the lone survivor to reach ordination to date! With these 2 ordinations in sight, St. John the Baptist Parish is becoming a “mine” of priestly vocations. After some years of drought in vocations, the parish is now teeming with vocations. At present, it has the highest number of seminarians enrolled at St. Benedict Diocesan Seminary in San Fernando.
