(CBCP, September 5, 2024) The CBCP Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care (ECPPC) has recently released the text of the liturgy for use on the occasion of the 37th Prison Awareness Sunday on October 27, 2024 (see attachment). The theme of this year’s liturgy is “Ang simbahan katuwang and VIPS: Kaagapay sa pagbabagong punong-puno ng pag-asa” (The Church through the VIPS: Partners of the PDLs in their journey towards wholeness with full of hope). The Sunday liturgy then in all parishes in the Diocese of Libmanan on October 27, 2024, shall be dedicated to all persons deprived of their liberties (PDLs). As the theme of the celebration puts it, prayers will be offered for all PDLs, that their lives, even behind bars and closed doors, might be led in the spirit of renewal and enkindled by hope in God’s mercy and forgiveness.
